Terms of Service

Last updated: April 26, 2026

Welcome to Orthovox. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What Orthovox is

Orthovox is a free audiobook library of the early Church Fathers, operated as a personal project. The library is free to listen to. There are no subscription paywalls on the audio.

Use of the audio and text

The audiobooks on Orthovox are produced from public-domain translations (primarily Ante-Nicene Fathers and Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers editions). The texts themselves are public domain in the United States and most of the world.

Our recorded audio is offered freely. You may stream it for personal use, share it with others, and use it in non-commercial settings (parishes, study groups, classrooms) without prior permission. If you want to use Orthovox audio in a commercial product (paid podcast, paid course, paid audiobook compilation), please email support@orthovox.net first.

The site design, theme, and original copy on Orthovox are not public domain — they're our work. Please don't copy them wholesale onto other sites.

Memberships and donations

  • Free members have an Orthovox account that stores their email and lets us send occasional updates.
  • Patrons ($5/month or $50/year) recurring donors who fund production. Patrons can cancel at any time from their account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Founding Patrons ($250 one-time, capped at the first 50) are listed permanently on the Founders page.
  • One-time donors give whatever amount they choose via the "Make a Gift" Stripe link.

All donations are non-refundable unless required by law. Orthovox is a personal project and is not a 501(c)(3); donations are not tax-deductible. If a charge looks wrong, email support@orthovox.net and we'll work with you.

What you can't do on the site

  • Don't use the site to harass anyone, including other members.
  • Don't try to break into accounts or scrape large portions of the site programmatically.
  • Don't impersonate anyone, including Orthovox.

If you do, we may suspend or remove your account.

Disclaimers

The site and the audio are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, accuracy of the historical translations (we use what's in the public domain — interpretations vary across translators), or that the site is fit for any particular purpose.

The Church Fathers themselves wrote in the fourth century (more or less). Some passages reflect the cultural and theological debates of their time. Orthovox preserves those translations as written; we do not edit or update them for modern sensibilities.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Orthovox is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. If we ever owe you anything, our total liability is limited to the amount you've actually given us in the previous twelve months.

Termination

You can stop using the site at any time and delete your member account from your Ghost member dashboard. We may terminate or suspend access if you violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
